Meet Wouter Vanderhorst

I graduated in 1988 as a licensed Physical therapist from Tim Van der Laan in Utrecht, The Netherlands.  I have been involved in several therapeutic settings but my strongest passion is to help individuals who suffer from chronic swelling. I am very proud of  leading our Lymphedema Treatment Center and my motivation is to give my patients a sense of normalcy again. I also enjoy taking care of people who suffer from acute and chronic orthopedic conditions and pain as I really like to use my manual therapy skills.

Orthopedic and sport medicine were my first “loves” of the job as I spent most of my youth till my twenties being a waterpolo player at the national level in The Netherlands. When I came to Florida, I immediately joined the local waterpolo team and later on, I have partnered with another player  to create our own team called “Thunder Waterpolo”. I organized many local tournaments as well as hosted and referred the Sunshine State Games.

I was also an avid windsurfer and taught windsurfing for the blind people using a tandem windsurfing board.

Today my biggest passion is growing and tending to my orchids. I also like to work out, sea fishing with my buddies, hiking beautiful sites and mountains and tending to our GA cabin.

C0 founding Healing The Generations was the best professional decision I have ever made. It gave me the freedom of tending to my patients as I see fit while allowing me to be present for Matthew and my wife.

I am looking forward to continue our endeavor and keep innovating our level of care.

From the lab to the hospital, from fighting cancer to fighting colds, medicine is ever changing at health. Our culture encourages curiosity and challenges assumptions as we push each other to improve the health of patients. What we discover in the lab, we take to the hospital. What we learn in the classroom, we apply in real life. What goes on behind the scenes directs what goes on in the hallways of our hospitals and in doctors’ offices.
